WHY IS CONSULT NI UNIQUE?

I am, I believe, the USP of Consult NI. This is due to acquired skills, specific academic progression and life & work experience. Born and raised in the French and Breton language, acquiring German and English languages, from age 11, in secondary school, to graduating in German and English for Business,  I came to Northern Ireland in 1988 as a French Language Assistant after graduation with the objective of perfecting my English language skills. When most return to their home countries after such an experience, I made the decision to stay, thus living and breathing in English for the past 30 years. It is hard to describe into words how a multilingual brain operates, but I find it most accurate in the description below:

"Research has overwhelmingly shown that when a bilingual person uses one language, the other is active at the same time. This is called language co-activation. The constant juggling of two languages creates a need to control how much a person accesses a language at any given time. This is an important skill from a communicative standpoint, as it is hard to understand a message if your other language always interferes. A bilingual speaker uses his control mechanisms every time he speaks or listens. This constant practice strengthens the control mechanisms and changes the associated brain regions. The Cognitive Benefits of Being Bilingual’ by Victoria Marian and Anthony Shook (2012)."

This was perfectly illustrated when I found myself interpreting conversations between Cork and Derry friends one weekend long ago, to everyone's surprise and mine also! I am extremely lucky to have the skill to switch from one language to the other without an effort or second thought. and am grateful for it day and daily.

My qualifications include:

I was until recently working as a Wealth Manager, within the Belfast Branch of Redmayne Bentley Stockbrokers LLP), where I tailored, implemented and monitored bespoke investment portfolios for Individuals, professional Intermediates and Companies. I have researched, analysed and scrutinised thousands of Companies' profiles, financial health and growth potential. I monitor geopolitical market conditions and risks by the time many finish Breakfast every morning. I anticipate and price in markets reactions and long-term consequences to political and economical developments worldwide and locally as they happen, reacting accordingly. If I have made the decision to move away from the Stockbroking environment, it is simply because I feel that my abilities would be better served elsewhere, in an environment where all the research I carry and the solutions I build bring certainty of an outcome. My professional background also includes Manufacturing, where I lead a team of Operators in a technological heavy environment, Marketing in a European context and Teaching.

Some may feel that now is not the time to expand in Europe. There may be uncertainty all around us, but the facts do not change. Northern Ireland' Businesses need both the U.K. and Europe to stand a chance of real, long term success. Trading with one’s neighbour is always easier and more cost effective than fighting for the attention of markets far away. It is not a political choice, but an economic must. I also do not need a crystal ball to predict that a long-term solution to the current border impasse will be found. Moreover, that solution can only have be a positive impact for the Northern Ireland’s economy. This may come tomorrow, next week, month or year, but as a Business Woman, I know that the time to get in, is now.

For those who doubt still, let me show you where simple logic trumps any political crisis or economic “incident” out there. When Irish Government Bonds lost 50% of their value in 2007/2008, plain logic said that the Republic of Ireland would, one way or the other, with the help of Europe and all other countries depending on it staying afloat, fulfil its obligations. Those logical Investors who followed this rationale not only made a huge profit, but also benefited from a 6.5% annual coupon income for years.

The Stockbroking world may be a cold world, but it teaches any participant to listen to the reality of facts and logical consequences. The only question, to me, is: “How many will see the opportunity in front of them, when it matters most?” I am ready to deliver on the opportunity, are you ready to take it on?

My motto is: “When there is a will, there is a way”.

It has served me right all those years, I believe it will benefit you also.
